80s-v-day-49As I mentioned here, Piccadilly recently had the opportunity to partner with another awesome DC-based events company, JBC Events to throw the coolest 80s dance party to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We had so much fun working with them and coming up with crazy, fun styling for the evening.JBC Events - 80s Valentines - Red (2)

My wonderful friend Erica, from Erica Baker Photography joined us as we set up for the evening and took some fun detail shots of the setup process. I thought you might enjoy them too!

Piccadilly Happy Hour

It’s been a little while since I checked with an update on what’s been happening with my business, Piccadilly.  If you’re new around here, Piccadilly Creative is a Washington, D.C. based boutique firm specializing in event styling and coordination, prop and product styling and creative consulting. I re-launched the business in September of this year with the help of some of my besties (aka the Piccadilly team).  It’s been quite the fun roller coaster and probably the main reason I haven’t been so chatty on this site over the past few months.

A few weeks ago, we hosted our first Piccadilly Happy Hour as a chance to connect with the awesome peeps in our community and share our vision for the company as well as a bit of sparkle!

It was a huge success! We had so many friends, old and new, come out and it really was such a blast!  On top of that we were overwhelmed by the generosity of some of our fellow entrepreneurs in donating their incredible products for a raffle to support the A21 Campaign.  A.E. Landes Photography, DeNada Design, Kicheko Goods, Pies & Petals and StartCloseIn Styling all donated amazing items for the event. (psst…If you’re anything like me and still trying to finish your Christmas shopping you should definitely check out their offerings)

On top of that, how great are all these photos?  Our friend, the very cool Matt Hyson of Prismatic Photography, took all these photos to make sure we captured every bit of fun that took place.

I am beyond grateful to everyone that came out.  THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!  This is just the beginning of the fun that’s to come.  Thanks for the support, encouragement, hand-holding, cheering, hugs, and basically jumping into this adventure head first with us.

I think you’re pretty cool.

p.s. You can see a TON more photos by liking our page on Facebook.

Thank you!

veteran's day

On days like today we remember the men and women who have left the comfort of their every day lives to fight for and defend our freedom.

On days like today we honor those who have devoted their lives to honor.

On days like today we remember that in war there are no unwounded soldiers.

On days like today we hug our loved ones a little bit closer.

On days like today we remember those who have literally given their all for us.

On days like today we say what we should say everyday.

Thank you

We each have choices in life.  Your choices have made mine possible.  For that and a million more sacrifices I’ll never know. Thank you.

Happy Veterans Day!

Junk In the Truck l Volume 1

One of the less glamorous parts of running your own events company is the amount of STUFF you end up hauling around on a regular basis.  At any given moment I might have everything from tree branches to tulle stuffed in the back of my car.  I’m a veritable party on wheels.  You never know when the trunk will explode with confetti.

Ashlynn mentioned in conversation that it might be a fun behind-the-scenes look at the projects that Piccadilly has been working on as of late. So, without further ado… here you have…

Volume 1

Currently the trunk includes… tree branches… spray paint… a chalk board… 500 feathers… lace… fairy wings… rope…a lot of pillows…tulle…a silver pitcher… a random hub cap….and about a million other things still to be discovered.

WSP : Pumpkins & Presidents

WSP Banner3

This past week was a rough one, but it reminded me again of the importance of family.  My family has always been a bit non-traditional and put together as only God could, but I’m beyond grateful for each of them.  This weekend was a beautiful reminder of how blessed I am to have so many different people in my world who I consider family.

This weekend included lots of Fall fun… pumpkins… mums… monuments… a capella…. Old Town… shopping… boats on the Potomac… touristy fun… lots of Spanish…cupcakes…hugs…roomie breakfasts… selfies…blue skies…a bridal party in an ice cream shop…bright trees…laughter… Virtue… meaningful conversations… a great day at church… prep for #CapCityCreative Team Night… my happy place.

I hope your weekend was just as fun!

LocalLove: Dolcezza

I’m finally catching up and sharing one of my favorite new spots I discovered this Summer… Dolcezza

True to its name, Dolcezza, delivers sweetness and delight in every bite.  With locally- sourced, handmade (hello! the factory is in my neighborhood) gelato and coffee, their fare does not disappoint.

It’s the perfect spot to check out with a few friends on a lazy weekend. I would highly recommend it.

WSP: Feathers & Flower Crowns

WSP Banner

This weekend was full and oh-so-wonderful!  Any time that flower crowns and baseball games meet is a-ok with me.  This weekend included… bright blue skies and stunning sunrises and sunsets (I saw both multiple times)… a trip to my happy place aka the floral warehouse… quality time with people that have I adore and make my world so much more sparkly.

I kicked the weekend off with prop styling and prep for the Beautiful You Photoshoot with my beautiful friend Emily of Either/Or Design.  She’s also part of the Piccadilly Creative team and I am constantly blown away by her creativity and ability to turn what could otherwise be ordinary objects into a work of art.  We made made flower crowns and played in a tent.  It was basically the best time I’ve had since I was 10!  Oh, and did I mention she has the cutest puppy ever?!?!

This weekend also included a first for me… watching a Nats game from a suite… guys, OMG, you guys… I’m ruined for watching a game any other way.  Talk about being spoiled!  It was such a fun night with the best roomies in the world.  #sportsandsparkles

Saturday I had the privilege of working with the Piccadilly Creative team to style the annual Beautiful You photoshoot.  If you haven’t checked out Beautiful You yet, I can’t recommend them enough. It’s an incredible group committed to seeing women understand their value, pursue their dreams and step into their purpose.  What a privilege to work with them!  They’re also an incredibly creative group and getting to spend the day creating and capturing beauty with them was an absolute blast.  On top of that we got to work with one of our favorite photographers from Piccadilly’s Little Black Book, John Jacks.  The shots he captured are mind-blowing. Can’t wait to show you.  These are just a few that I captured on my iPhone.

I hope your weekend was just as inspiring and beauty-filled!
