“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
Is there anything more intoxicating that holding an armful of fragrant blooms? I love burying my face and letting the scent transport me back to the moments in my childhood when I first experienced the phenomenon. There’s something positively decadent about the experience. It feels too much, too good and just too wonderful to contain.
That moment is what I think of when I read the verse from John listed above. It’s that kind of over the top, too good to believe, abundance that God wants to give us in life. Kind of like burying your face in a fistful of flowers. (Am I the only one who does that?)
I’ve realized though that too often we can settle for a just “good-enough” life. We stop dreaming and opt for ok. “It’s comfortable enough” we tell ourselves. We think “You’re too old, too young, too stuck, too…” and the list of limitations goes on. Before you know it we’re living in a box of our own making. Bordered in by our own lack of imagination and faith. What’s crazy though is sometimes we even have the audacity to look at our lives and blame God for the pieces we feel are missing.
How far from the truth that is! His very goal is for us to live the life of our dreams and then some. He dreams bigger dreams for our lives that we can even imagine. He is a God of abundance.
So as we prepare for Spring and watch the world to burst into bloom, my prayer is that each blossom reminds you of the over-the-top, abundant life that God dreams of for you!
Don’t settle for a solitary dandelion* when there are armfuls of peonies in your future!
*I’m not hating on the dandelions. I think they’re just dandy.
1. At least five people in the last month have told me that they like my haircut. They’re so kind. The catch is…
I HAVEN’T CUT MY HAIR IN LIKE 4 MONTHS.
So either it’s all falling out (please NO!) or someone is cutting it in my sIeep. Awesome.
Crazy eyes to underscore my point. (Photo Credit : Erica Baker)
2. I’ve been rocking out to the Elle King iTunes Radio station since last week. Really ❤ it!
3. Can it not be winter anymore? I’ve over the cold.

4. Speaking of being over the cold, I have about 5 million pictures from my trip to Miami last week and I’ll blog them as soon as I figure out how to get them off my phone. What has two thumbs and is technically challenged? THIS GIRL.
5. I really like flamingos. I call this one Ferdinand.
As I mentioned here, Piccadilly recently had the opportunity to partner with another awesome DC-based events company, JBC Events to throw the coolest 80s dance party to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We had so much fun working with them and coming up with crazy, fun styling for the evening.
My wonderful friend Erica, from Erica Baker Photography joined us as we set up for the evening and took some fun detail shots of the setup process. I thought you might enjoy them too!
I’m still holding on to the warmth of the beach. If I close my eyes and hold my blowdryer up to my face I can still imagine Miami. Unfortunately, I eventually have to open my eyes and realize that there’s snow on the ground. Oh well, today’s inspiration is my attempt to hold onto the warmth of the beach and the vibrance of life in Miami for as long as possible. Join me won’t you?
Sometime’s life sends you last minute surprises in the shape of cheap tickets to one of your favorite places. I’m spending a few days in Miami soaking up sunshine, blue water and creative inspiration. Basically, I’m in heaven. I’m sure to be posting about it next week when I get back, but in the meantime feel free to hop over to instagram to follow along. I’ll try to keep the selfie to regular post ratio good.
