As this first #blogiversary week draws to a close I wanted to share a few exciting things with you. I’m so incredibly relieved and honestly really proud of myself for meeting my goal. I’m also tired. Can I take a nap, please? Posting five times a week takes time and usually that time happens in the middle of the night. It’s not to say that it hasn’t been worth it, it totally has been, but I’m excited for some changes moving forward.
Namely, you may notice that I may not be posting quite as often over the summer months.
Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere.
I’m just feeling the call to transfer some of the discipline that I have developed over this past year into some other areas of my life. I proved to myself that I can do it in this area, now I’m working to transfer that skill elsewhere. I have some other exciting projects I’m working on (I can’t wait to tell you all about them!) AND I’ve been feeling the need to rest. That can almost seem like a dirty word in our super busy society, but I wholeheartedly believe in it’s importance. That being said, I’m committing over the summer to focus on taking time to enjoy the moments…to laugh at the jokes…to have long chats on the porch…to lay in the sunshine… fall asleep in the hammock…read a book (or at least finish one)… make new friends and celebrate old ones… and, to really revel in the amazing adventure that is life.
So while I may not be posting quite as often (I’m aiming for 2-3x a week instead of 5x), you can rest assured that I’m not going to lose momentum. I’m more focused than ever. I have more ideas than ever. I’m also more excited than ever because I can see the amazing things that are in store.
I hope you’ll come along with me on this journey. I really do believe the BEST is yet to come!
p.s. I’m also going to be taking into account your feedback from the survey here as I plan ahead for the next few months.
Summer is going by much too quickly. We’ve had the most gorgeous weather over the past few days. It’s been gloriously cool and sunny and reminds me so much of summers growing up that I’ve been a bit homesick for them. I decided it was time to get my country fix and headed out to Great Country Farms in Bluemont, VA for the Bluemont BBQ Bash & Blackberry Bonanza with my friend Ella and her family. It was such a blast! Definitely had the yummiest BBQ ever and cole slaw with coconut in it is a game changer… for reals.
This weekend was full of sunshine… fresh air… a ginormous jumpin pumpkin… barnyard animals… some more StyleLove photoshooting… fresh squeezed lemonade… catching up with friends… a stroll through my happy place (aka Anthropologie)… re-organizing… really bad English reality TV (don’t ask)… birthdays… a trip to the new Walgreens in China Town (uh-mazing)… a great message on rest… appropriately followed by naps… mani/pedis… and giggling like a 12 year old girl with my roomies.
Overall, another weekend that makes me stop and realize yet again how blessed I am.
Hope your weekend was just as fun!
This past weekend I discovered a new favorite place, Union Market.
I love the vibe. It’s totally cool ( enough to make me feel cooler than I actually am, just by walking around). The produce is fresh. The restaurants are fresher.Their is ice cream to die for. (try the Peanut Butter)
In the midst of this wonderland I stumbled upon a lovely little shop called “Salt & Sundry“.
Granted, I realize I may be late to this party but I’m hoping it’s fashionably late. Just imagine me arriving with some fabulous
hors deove’res hors durves… actually scratch that… just imagine me being able to spell hors d’oeuvres (thank you spell check) and arriving with glitter. That’s probably more likely anyways. I can’t spell OR make whore durvs.
Ok… where was I? Oh right… Salt & Sundry! They are amazing! Such a fun store, chocked full of local yumminess, beautiful items that you can imagine were curated with much thoughtfulness and taste that again makes me feel that much cooler just by being in it’s presence. Since I believe a picture is worth a thousand words (unless of course it’s your Senior Project paper. Take my word for it, professors don’t always appreciate pictures and 20pt Comic Sans) here’s a few shots I took during my recent visit.
I would definitely suggest you check it out for yourself!
Don’t you hate it when someone starts a post with apologizing for being gone forever and then you realize their last 4 posts said the exact same thing? Yeah, me too…. that’s why I will be forging ahead, blatantly ignoring my extended absence… let’s keep a little mystery in our relationship after all.
Yes, perhaps they quadruple the amount of things you need to bring with you to the beach. Yes, perhaps it requires full time supervision to ensure they don’t eat all the sand (hey! it’s called a sandwich after all)
Besides you never know when a spontaneous dance party will break out…
Have you had any quality beach time this year? What’s your favorite activity to do with kids in the Summer?
